This was a road trip to California about a year before Greg retired from UC Berkeley. He was working part-time and at this point, Greg and Lucia had already moved to Boise (in May 2020). But as covid had shut in-office work down, Greg still had all his stuff in his old Berkeley office. So I suppose the primary purpose of this trip (if memory serves) is so that Greg could clean out all the stuff (about 22 years' worth!) from his office, pack up what was worth keeping, and bring it back home to Boise so the office could be used for a common area.
But we did quite a bit of other things on the trip as well. We visited Lucia's parents in Escondido, CA, and the Stone Brewery Beer Garden, also in Escondido; Greg rode up Mt. Palomar, just east of Escondido; we stayed in Half Moon Bay on the way up from SoCal; we saw friends in the Bay Area; had Porter come visit us in our Air BnB in Oakland (off of Claremont near the Star Market) and went to dinner at Burma Superstar; visited with Greg's cousin Rani and husband Mike in Sonoma, and finally, saw Greg's cousin Marty in Reno (and his wife Nancy and daughter Maddie) on the way back to Boise.
Below are slideshows from the trip: SoCal (including Mt. Palomar) and the CA Coast; Berkeley (Greg's office and UC Berkeley co-workers); the Bay Area (including our Air BnB); and Miscellaneous (including driving through Ely Nevada on the way to SoCal, Sonoma, and Reno).
